Ezra on the move

Ezra is on the move.

He has mastered jumping up and down (while holding on to something). He can crawl with the best of them. And he is walking now. He has made so much progress in a short time. He is catching up in some of this gross motor skills and is working hard with his therapists on his fine motor skills, speech and oral motor skills.

4!!!!

Asher is 4!!!

Wow! Asher turned 4 on March 25 and I missed adding a post...silly mommy...

Asher is the funnest and funniest little guy I know. He has great big emotions. He loves to eat. He loves the 3 Ninja movies. He loves frogs. He loves Granny. He loves to dress up as a super hero. He loves to play pretend: doctor, kitchen, birthday party, etc. He loves his aunts and uncles and his grandparents and his brothers and his cousins. He loves life. But when Asher does not love something he "hates" it. And he lets you know. He has a nickname in the family and it is very apt, The Hulk, in that it describes who Asher is, lol! Actually Asher causes me to laugh out loud every day! We love Asher and are so happy he is a part of our family!

Asher you are one amazing kid. God has given you great big feelings. You are an awesome little brother and an awesome big brother. You love people and you love life and you love God. I pray that you continue to grow big and strong (even bigger than Uncle Kris - according to you) and that you grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. That you would know Him and love Him as passionately as you love us!

He Is Risen!!!!

He is Risen! And if you were at my childhood church you would respond: "He is Risen Indeed!" Oh how I love that! He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!!!

It is Easter Sunday! The very very best Sunday of the year! Every Sunday we gather to worship Jesus and be reminded of what he has done for us but Easter is just an even bigger celebration of the truth of the resurrection! (If you knew me in college and remember that I referred to another Sunday as the best Sunday of the year - I apologize - Super Bowl Sunday is fantastic and was a fantastic Sunday to get baptized on but when I said it was the best I was rightly put in my place by some college friends, "as opposed to Easter Sunday?" and yes they were right Easter Sunday is the Best!)

Did you know that Easter Sunday has not fallen on April 1st since 1965? Well the fact that it is April 1st may not matter very much to many people but this day is always full of remembrance for me. April 1st 2001 was a Sunday and it was the day my mom passed away.

Last night I lay in bed and contemplated that it had been 17 years ago that I had kissed my mom goodbye for the last time as I left with Granny to spend the night. I had no idea it was to the the last I would see her. As the tears quietly rolled down my cheeks the words from Colossians 3:3-4 brought me comfort as they ran through my mind like this: For Gaylyn died and her life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who was Gaylyn's life appears, they Gaylyn will also appear with him in glory. Oh my goodness how good is that! What hope we have in Jesus! My mom loved him and is with him and will appear with him!

I know this is true because I know that Jesus is Alive! He is Risen!

1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 13-14, 16-22 puts it this way, "Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures...But if there is no resurrection from the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised...then your faith is in vain...for if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then this also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead...For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive."

And Colossians 2:11-15 says, "In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God who raised him from the dead. And you who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him."

I remember at the funeral service our pastor said that my mom had died on April fool's day but the joke was on Satan because death did not hold Jesus and it would not hold my mom either. Jesus triumphed over death! He is Alive and we are made alive together with him! Praise God!

This Easter has been wonderful! We had a wonderful family get together on Good Friday and we had a wonderful gathering with our church family this morning (despite the fact that we did not sing the promise keepers version of A Mighty Fortress is Our God - my favorite Easter song - lol - I grew up Lutheran) and I cried happy grateful tears numerous times throughout the service (good thing I put on water proof mascara) as Jesus is so good y'all!

He is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!

Ezra thought to skip the hunting and just eat the eggs.

My dad brought a trash can to collect his eggs.

Haylyn was first out, ladies first.

 Shiloh off to hunt.

Next came Asher. "Look I see one!"

 Jude with some eggs.

 Cheese!

Eggs in the tree, no problem, Shiloh can climb

Shiloh swung across the tree, American Ninja Warrior style to get to an egg. I must say I'm super impressed with his upper body strength!

Mimi helping Jude reach an egg.

 They got it!

Me and Ezra with his new turtle.

Aunt Rachel helping Asher build his off brand lego set.

Granddad helping Shiloh build his off brand lego set (they were hard to snap together which is why I mention it was off brand)

Granny reading the Good Friday devotional.

Justin helping with the releasing go butterflies.

Beautiful butterfly to remind is of our New Life in Christ!
