Snow Day and Super Heroes!

Today we experienced lovely temperatures here in Houston, it reached 72 this afternoon and was quite nice to watch the boys play from my swing under the tree. You wouldn't believe the "terrible" ice storm was just 3 days before.

The anticipation began on Monday when we discovered Chad would get to stay home from work since school was cancelled! Yes! A day off! We woke Tuesday morning to cold temperatures. It must have been near freezing, 34 degrees. Brrrr. It was clear but we were expecting the worst around 10 am. So we ate a delicious breakfast of peanut butter baked oatmeal with chocolate chips and started a fire in the fire place.

Our first test of survival arrived when I went to feed the dogs. Gasp there was hardly any food left in the canister and with the freezing temperatures and the snow and ice to come there was no way we could venture out of the house. Fortunately there was just enough for the day.

Around 10am it began to snow/rain/sleet. I saw at least 4 large snow flurries! And you wouldn't believe the icicles that formed on the roof and table. They were at least 1/4" long! I took this picture of the snow/ice accumulation we got (it is not the greatest because I dared not venture out of the house it being so cold and icy, so I took it from the window).

It remained cold all day and we stayed inside. We ate lunch, took naps, ate chili for dinner and watched Happy Feet 2 (ummm I don't think I will ever watch that movie again...) because we could relate to the cold weather. After our movie we played don't break the ice.

Chad and I were wore out from our day in but the boys were not tired. So they pulled out their Superhero Costumes.

All in all we had a great day! I am thankful Chad got to be home with us!

A Day Over 28...

Yesterday was my birthday and I turned 28. For the first time in a long time I feel older. Not old. Just older. Maybe it has to do with the fact that my brother just turned 30. Now that is weird. Anyway we had a great day. We woke up and ate peanut butter chocolate chip baked oatmeal. I got a present from Chad. The boys and I lounged around in our pj's all day. Jude and Shiloh picked me "flowers" aka weeds and made me "brownies" aka clods of dirt. I got lots of attention on Facebook. People called and texted. I was a well wished birthday girl. We went to Pei Wei for dinner and Chad and I started watching Downton Abbey on Amazon because apparently with our prime membership we can do that. It was a good day! Now for pictures of my loot:

Two waffle makers! One from Chad and one from Christy. We made waffles while in the Cayman Islands and I decided I love making waffles - though I intend to find a clean or cleaner options than the Aunt Jemina's we used in Cayman, Pamela's is a good starting point.

My 12 year old brother saw these Just Right Joe Beverage Temperature  Regulators at Bed Bath and Beyond and had to buy them for me because while in the Cayman's we talked about a product like this we saw on Shark Tank. So sweet!

Real Flowers that Jude gave me!

Chocolates from Shiloh :)

All in All what a great day!

I intend to write about Christmas and the adventures we had in the Cayman Islands but I just haven't been able to make myself write yet. Also my computer is not behaving very well. I can't access my Christmas pictures and I am having all kinds of keyboard issues such as not being able to use the delete/backspace button, which makes writing a blog very difficult especially for someone who has terrible spelling and grammar. So until later this is all I got.
