Theology According to a 4-year old

Driving home in the car today.

Song: "I couldn't run, couldn't run from your presence."

Jude: Why would anyone run from God's presents? God gives the best coolest presents. Mom do you know what is the best most awesome toy God gave? The best is Jesus.

Amen Jude.

Galveston

Galveston may not be the Cayman Islands but it is within 2 hours driving distance and doesn't cost a fortune to travel to...we were in need of a beach or at least water and sand and Galveston qualified...though the sand was more like dirt - which the boys thought was an excellent improvement to the white sand in the Caymans...haha...we missed the clear blue water but hey brown murky water worked for the day...we also missed Mimi and Pops and the boys kept asking why they weren't at the beach. I said they were just a different beach.

Winter in July

Apparently it's winter - according to Jude anyway. Surely he can't be cold. Maybe it's a sincere desire for cooler temperatures. Maybe it's a fashion statement. Whatever the reason Jude has taken to wearing sweatshirts. No matter our a/c is barely making it (during the day our house doesn't see temps below 79, at least at night we get to 76 and there's fans (how on earth did people live in Houston before a/c?).

But hey why not wear a sweatshirt today? Or why not put a winter coat on your younger brother? The high is only going to be 100 with a feels like of 108 (thanks humidity).

Poor Plant...

Poor okra plant. Today I went to cut off an okra with my little pairing knife. A word to the wise make sure the blade is in the right direction or you might cut off the whole top of your plant...

Off Limits

My garden is off limits to children and dogs. Lilah is not happy being told she is not allowed in and often squeezes through the fence in her act of rebellion. Yesterday she got stuck - too much of Asher's food is affecting her figure.

Veggies!!!

My little veggie garden is producing!!!!

I've lost count of the cucumbers we have harvested.

We have had 3-4 tomatoes make it (pesky vermin and birds). I think I need to furtilize though because the plant seems to be thriving but there are no tomatoes.

There is okra growing close to picking size.

There are little tiny pumpkins (blueberry size) and flowers on the cantaloupe plant.

I love my garden!

Okra plant with a baby okra and flower:

Okra, pumpkin, cantaloupe and watermelon plants:

Baby okra plants, heirloom tomato plant and a piddly zucchini plant:

Tomato plants - those are Christmas ornaments not tomatoes its to confuse the birds - I think it is working.

Glue

Ahh the power of glue. It can be used for so many things including holding your chin in place...

Today Shiloh decided to jump off his chair. This turned out badly for him as his feet caught on the chair and he belly flopped on the tile. I walked over to comfort him and help him up. I pulled him in my lap and turned him over and that's when I realized he was bleeding like crazy from his chin. I grabbed a napkin and instructed Jude to go get my essential oils and my first aid kit. Jude did awesome and brought me both things in under a minute. I cleaned Shiloh up. Put some lavender oil on his gapping chin and butterflied his chin.

We had lunch and Shiloh proceeded to fall asleep at the table. He took a good nap. While he was sleeping I consulted with my Aunt Kathy (who is an amazing ER nurse) and she thought based on my description and the picture I sent he may need stitches.

So when Chad got home I took Shiloh to an urgent care center to have his chin looked at. The doctor and nurse where impressed with my butterfly job - what can I say I've had practice (Jude busted his chin a year or so ago and we just butterflied it but it took forever to heal and kept opening - I probably should have got his glued). They decided to glue it. I'm glad I didn't want to think about having to see him get stitches. Poor little guy. Good news only have to try and keep it dry and clean five days...no swimming :(

A Fun Fourth!

We had a blast celebrating the 4th of July! Chad's dad sent us a link to a youtube video with some guy interviewing people on the street asking if they would celebrate the 4th of July, when they answered yes he would ask what the holiday was...no one could answer - so I was determined to make sure the boys knew the reason we were celebrating.

Jude though made some very good observations. When asked if he knew what the 4th of July was about he said, "Fireworks!!!!!" So we said we do fireworks to celebrate our freedom. He said, yes because Jesus sets us free and breaks the chains of sin in our hearts (we had heard the song with the lyrics, "break every chain" on the radio the other day and he wanted an explanation). Yes, Jude that is actually much more important. So then we said we could celebrate both the freedom we have because we live in America (and July 4th is the day the Declaration of Independence was signed) and We will definitely celebrate the freedom we have in Jesus!

A Berry Red, White and Blue Breakfast.

Listening to a story about Paul Revere.

Shiloh admiring all our fireworks.

Watching the show.

Lighting sparklers.

All three were fast asleep when we got home.

Boker hates to be picked up or even hugged but he is terrified of fireworks and was so happy to see us he let me pick him up.

Lilah was offended that Chad as holding Boker at the same time as her. She is not bothered in the least by fireworks.

A Forceful Breakfast

Sometimes you just want the force to be with you...

We ate it today:
